San Diego Gas & Electric Case Study – “A Better Solution”

Reception Lobby Radius Wall, Painted Drywall
First Pre-Assembled Web Section Leveled & Fixed to Wall
Web Installation, Seven Sections, with Start of Segmented Panels

Problems: Remodel the lobby by moving 15year-old flat veneer panels to the opposite radius wall behind the reception desk while working in an active office.

Solution: Railset’s rails were factory shaped to the exact radius of the wall. The frames were preassembled off site to expedite installation time. Working after hours, the contracting crew was able toinstall all Railset frames in just 58 minutes. The accuracy of the radius frames allowed the aged, brittle finished segmented panels to be recycled without damage to the veneer.

The use of the Railset Web solved three SDG&E Lobby remodel issues. CA

  1. An active visitor office lobby that would not tolerate business hour disruptions. After hours installation was expedited with off site pre-assembled Web frames. The installer commented, “The Raiset Web reduced installation by as much as eight hours.” He compared the Web installation to working with “Z” Clips and individual rails.

  1. The existing radius sub-wall had irregularities. The Railset Web configuration masked all surface irregularities eliminating the need to prep walls prior to decorative panel installation.

  2. Decorative Cherry veneer 2’ x 2’ x 0.75”panels were flat, salvaged from another wall and their segmentate
installation on a radius required exact Joint intersections. The Web’s rigid exact radius provided a perfect
    armature to fix segmented panels.
